Binibeca Vell is a collaborative project between architect F. Barba Corsini and technical architect Antonio Sintes Mercadal, conceived as a reinterpretation of a traditional Mediterranean fishing village on the south coast of Menorca. The project combines the charm of vernacular architecture with the comfort and functionality of modern life, transforming a small coastal area into a harmonious ensemble of whitewashed houses, winding streets, intimate courtyards, and small squares that evoke the spirit of an authentic seafaring community.
Carefully adapted to the uneven terrain and the natural contours of the land, the design achieves a spontaneous and organic arrangement that gives the impression of having naturally emerged from the landscape. The complex includes a small marina, a beach club, and several residential and community buildings, creating a balance between private and shared spaces. Built with local materials and characterized by artisan finishes, the project maintains simplicity and coherence, while reflecting the island's cultural identity.
Binibeca Vell represents a thoughtful synthesis between tradition and modernity, offering an architectural experience that captures the essence of Menorca's maritime heritage and serves as a model of respectful and human-scale development along the Mediterranean coast.
