The project involves expanding an existing building in Pacs del Penedès by constructing a new facility designed as the New Wine Center, a space dedicated to wine exhibitions, tastings, cultural events, and various activities related to wine and gastronomy.
The project is situated within the characteristic vineyard landscape of the Penedès region, one of Catalonia's most important wine-producing areas. The new building is conceived as a landmark within the winery complex, reinforcing the relationship between architecture, landscape, and wine culture.
Its placement on the site establishes a strong connection with the surroundings, incorporating gardens, outdoor terraces, and pedestrian paths that allow visitors to experience the vineyard landscape. The outdoor spaces function as extensions of the interior program, facilitating open-air events and informal gatherings.
The program is organized on three levels. The ground floor houses the main reception areas, including visitor access, tasting rooms and a wine bar, exhibition spaces, and social gathering areas, all connected to outdoor terraces overlooking the surrounding landscape. The upper floor accommodates spaces for tastings, presentations, workshops, and small events, offering views of both the main hall and the vineyards. The lower level contains service and technical areas, as well as the storage spaces necessary for the building's operation.
Architecturally, the building is defined by a large, open interior hall covered by a timber structure, inspired by traditional agricultural buildings and the region's winery architecture. Exposed timber trusses create a warm and spacious atmosphere, while large openings and arched windows allow natural light to flood in and establish a direct visual connection with the vineyards.
The interior design combines natural materials such as wood and stone with warm textures to create a welcoming atmosphere, ideal for wine tastings and social gatherings. The layout allows for flexible configurations for different types of events, including tastings, presentations, corporate meetings, and cultural activities.
The new Wine Center enhances the visitor experience within the winery complex, creating a space where winemaking, the landscape, and hospitality converge. By integrating contemporary architecture with the traditional character of the Penedès region, the project reinforces the identity of the area and provides new facilities for promoting wine culture and wine tourism.
