Kampala Tech City 4.0 is conceived as a new technological, urban, and social hub for Kampala: a place where innovation, knowledge, industry, culture, and daily life are integrated into a single connected ecosystem. Located in Uganda, the project aims to position Kampala as one of Africa's leading destinations for innovation, global talent, sustainability, and economic development. At the heart of the masterplan is a large green and water axis that follows the natural valley and structures the entire development. This central axis connects the main public spaces of the city and culminates in a large civic plaza conceived as a new urban landmark and as a symbol of Kampala's role within a dynamic and forward-looking Africa. A city designed for people Kampala Tech City 4.0 focuses on people-centered urbanism. The mixed-use neighborhoods integrate housing, commerce, leisure, culture, education, and community facilities within walking distance, creating active districts throughout the day and night. Building heights are carefully controlled to preserve natural light, the relationship with the landscape, and a strong sense of community. Mobility is planned around pedestrians, bicycles, and electric public transport, reducing the prominence of private vehicles and transforming streets and public spaces into safer, greener, and more social environments. Innovation, education, and production The project integrates different areas within a single innovation ecosystem. An Education and Research Campus offers spaces for learning, research, entrepreneurship, and collaboration, generating opportunities for students, researchers, companies, and institutions to interact within the city. The Industrial District constitutes the productive heart of Kampala Tech City and incorporates advanced manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor production, software development, deep tech, and industries linked to climate tech. These areas are complemented by logistics facilities and warehouses designed to ensure efficient supply chains, services, and operational flows. Culture, community, and African identity Technology is only part of the vision. Culture, sports, and public life are fundamental components of Kampala Tech City 4.0. Cultural spaces dedicated to cinema, theater, exhibitions, music, and performances coexist with sports, wellness, and leisure facilities, reinforcing the idea of an active, inclusive, and socially connected city. The Central Plaza becomes the symbolic heart of the project: a new civic space where public life, culture, innovation, hospitality, and commerce converge, celebrating African identity and connecting Uganda with talent and opportunities from across the continent and beyond. Building a new urban ecosystem for Africa Kampala Tech City 4.0 is much more than a tech district. It is a vision of a resilient, adaptable, and people-centered city, where architecture, landscape, mobility, education, industry, and public space work together to drive new ways of living, learning, creating, and producing. A new urban destination for Kampala. A platform for innovation and opportunities.
