A New Paradigm for Coastal Living

At a time when cities are seeking to reconnect with nature, The Green Island emerges as a visionary proposal — a self-sufficient community in symbiosis with the marine environment. Conceived by BC Estudio Group, this artificial island redefines the idea of coastal living by merging sustainability, technological innovation, and a deep ecological sensitivity.

The project is built upon reclaimed land, with a rocky base specifically designed to promote marine biodiversity. This foundation not only supports the urban complex but also acts as a new biotope, revitalizing the Mediterranean ecosystem.

Architecture, Nature, and Technology in Balance

The development includes 202 bioclimatic homes, a hotel with spa and conference center, a marina with 500 berths, and generous green areas, pedestrian promenades, and leisure spaces.

Over 35,000 m² of sustainable architecture are harmoniously integrated into the landscape through terraces, gardens, and natural materials that engage in dialogue with the surroundings.

Each residence is oriented to maximize natural light and cross ventilation, minimizing energy consumption. The entire complex operates on renewable energy sources — solar, wind, and geothermal — and incorporates advanced greywater reuse systems.

Internal mobility is fully electric, while parking areas are discreetly integrated beneath a landscaped hillside, preserving the island’s natural aesthetic.

A Replicable Model for Ecological and Safe Urbanism

Beyond its architectural value, The Green Island proposes a new model of safe and sustainable urbanism, adaptable to international contexts. Its controlled, insular design fosters both protection and community — a particularly relevant quality in regions where urban security is a priority, such as coastal areas in Brazil or African nations.

The use of modular prefabrication allows this model to be replicated in diverse locations — from inland lakes to tropical or Mediterranean environments — while maintaining the same principles of efficiency, self-sufficiency, and environmental respect.

Moreover, by creating its own coastline through a rocky foundation, The Green Island not only provides human habitat but also generates new marine life, functioning as a catalyst for biodiversity.

Recognition and International Outlook

The project has been featured in the exhibition “Il·luminacions. Catalunya Visionària” and has received the support of Greenpeace, which highlights it as an example of harmony between urban development and environmental sustainability.

With The Green Island, BC Estudio Group reaffirms its commitment to an architecture that generates life — consolidating Barcelona as a global laboratory for ecological urbanism.

“The Green Island demonstrates that architecture can be the meeting point between human progress and natural balance. A project that not only looks at the sea — but gives life back to it.”

An Invitation to Build the Future: The Green Island is not just a project — it’s a replicable vision for the communities of tomorrow.

If you are a developer, investor, or public entity interested in creating a new model of sustainable urbanism, BC Estudio Group invites you to be part of this new generation of projects that unite architecture, nature, and technology.
